Moraceae fig Family.
Native to Mesoamerica. An evergreen
strangler fig tree that has 2" round tip leafs and produces
small berries at the base of leaf stems; pollinated by
ants and
bees, propagated by bats, These Ficus are strangler
figs, their roots are a mayor factor for the demolition of
many Mayan temples (ruins) and Colonial Haciendas in
Yucatan, Mexico. Ancient Mayans used the
wild strangler figs bark to handmade "Copo or Amatl" a amate
paper for their books and codices.
